Johan Skog began his career as a still photographer in his native Sweden. After making the transition to live action director, he co-founded the production company Mekano Film & Television, and built a successful career in commercials, music videos and episodic television. His commercial work has earned Gold and Silver Lions at Cannes as well as top awards in the New York Film Festival, Mobius, Clio and Golden Egg competitions. His production company was named Best Scandinavian Advertising Film and Production Company at the Nordic Advertising Festival.

Johan co-founded SHS Pictures and helped to build it into an industry leader. The Swedish finance magazine Månadens Affärer named it Production Company of the Year. He also founded Mekano Baby, as a school and production platform for promising, young directors. Johan is also frequently contributes film reviews and journalistic stories to the Swedish magazine Nöjesguiden.
